Sacramental Programs

This page deals with issues associated with the St Bernadette's policy regarding the preparation of children for the Sacraments of First Reconciliation, First Eucharist and Confirmation.

A new sacramental preparation process

St Bernadette's has renewed its sacramental preparation process for families wishing to prepare their children for the sacraments of first Reconciliation, Confirmation, and first Eucharist. The new integrated, family-focussed, year-long process includes changes to the usual ages at which families undertake preparation for their children to receive the sacraments.

As parents are the first teachers of their children in the ways of faith, the parish requires that all families enrolling in the program have had at least one parent complete the Faith Formation Course.

Information regarding enrolment in the new programs will be advertised in the weekly parish bulletin, the Massabielle. Please contact the Parish Office with any other queries.

Preparation for the sacraments

We encourage parents to carefully consider the needs of their children when considering when to begin undertaking preparation for the sacraments.

To assist parents with this task, and in recognition of the fact that parents have a vital and central role in their child's faith development, the parish has developed the Faith Formation Course for all parents considering applying to enrol their child in sacramental preparation programs. It is essential that you contact the Parish Office for details of this course.

Adult sacramental programs

Adults usually do their discernment and preparation through the Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults. Please contact the Parish Office. The staff will be more than willing to provide you with more information.

For more details contact the Sacramental Co-ordinator, Alice who will gladly assist with your enquiry.
